JYAN for Education

With the myriad of challenges facing the education system, JYAN will focus on issues related to access to education, learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic, bullying, discipline and students’ dress and grooming as well as comprehensive sexual health education and nutrition.

At JYAN we recognize that Jamaica’s education system must be enabled to provide a more diverse and comprehensive learning experience, where youth are prepared for the 21st century. As such, non-traditional, vocational, digital and financial literacy, life skills and advocacy courses must become accessible features of the learning environment. Youth living with disabilities are also often left behind in discussions and interventions around their education needs. Post-pandemic, the risk to their learning is undoubted though little known.
